General Statement of Job The Bookstore Accounting Clerk performs various clerical accounting functions by performing the following duties.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities Essential Duties: Monitors and reconciles student account uploads to University accounts.
Prepares Bookstore invoices and credit memos for payment by the University accounts payable department.
Performs daily reconciliation of the upload of accounts receivable to general ledger.
Prepares monthly Bookstore standard account entries and entries specific to year end including monthly reconciliation of various general ledger accounts.
Coordinates year end inventory process using Bookstore software inventory module.
Orders general merchandise items such as school and office supplies, art supplies, electronics, and snacks and beverages to be sold in the store.
Coordinates ordering of faculty rental regalia.
Provides customer service.
Other duties may be assigned.
Education, Experience, and Licenses High School diploma or GED certificate required.
Associate Degree with two or more years retail bookkeeping or accounting experience preferred or comparable experience.
Experience with PC based software such as Microsoft Excel and Word.

Ability to apply basic accounting concepts.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to understand and work daily with bookstore PC based point-of-sale (POS) and accounting system.
The ability to routinely perform detailed tasks with a high degree of accuracy.
Effective communication, orally (in person and by telephone) and in writing.
As part of the Campus Store team, the employee must display a team and customer-oriented attitude.
