Deborah Beachner, 100% owner of RFB Construction, is a dynamic, results-oriented leader with a strong track record of performance in a high-paced industry.
As President of RFB Construction, she provides quality communication, superior interpersonal skills, is capable of resolving multiple complex issues to motivate staff to peak performance and success.
Deborah has served, more than once, as Landscape Chair for KS Contractors Association (KCA).
She is also the president of the SEK Chapter of National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) and speaks frequently across the Midwest Region to eradicate and fears women might have entering into the vast career opportunities in the Construction Industry.
*Job Title: Skilled Concrete Finisher*
*Reports to: President*
*Job Summary:*
A concrete finisher will be responsible for smoothing and finishing concrete surfaces to complete construction projects.
This may include concrete floors, sidewalks, roads, or curbs.
Concrete finishers make sure the concrete used on job sites is the desired pith, required form and depth.
They may work alongside and collaborate with other skilled tradespeople to complete their work, including engineers, electricians, plumbers, truck drivers and operators.
*Responsibilities:*
· Placing forms that hold concrete to ensure the required depth and pitch is achieved.
· Monitoring the effect heat, wind and cold have on curing concrete to ensure high-quality results.
· Removing edges on expansion joints and sides.
· Installing anchor bolts, steel plates and other fixtures in freshly pored concrete.
· Polishing surfaces using smoothing materials, abrasive tools, and surfacing machines.
· Aligning forms for sidewalks, curbs, and gutters.
· Waterproofing, damp-proofing, and restoring concrete surfaces.
· Compacting materials using power vibrators to create leveled bases.
· Finishing concrete surfaces with rough or smooth patterns depending on the customer’s preference.
· Casting and spreading concrete to patch voids.
*Required Skills/Abilities:*
· Good communication skills, since construction sites are collaborative environments, a concrete finisher should have good verbal communication skills as many dangers are present at construction sites.
· Well-developed physical strength, which enables a concrete finisher to work in extreme weather conditions, lift heavy bags of concrete, remain standing for long periods, and work efficiently with his/her hands using several relevant tools.
· A highly detail-oriented mind, as a concrete finisher must precisely match concrete floors, identify the imperfections in concrete, and effectively manage his/her tools.
· Design comprehension which enables a concrete finisher to be able to read and interpret various kinds of construction plans and drawings.
· Good problem-solving skills, as he/she is expected to identify problems and come up with effective solutions or recommendations.
*Education and Experience:*
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· At least two years’ related experience required.
*Physical Requirements:*
· Must be able to lift up to 55 pounds at times.
· Working with outside conditions.
