SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
The Fabricator is responsible for performing accurate measurements for layout of parts; properly operating fabrication machines (shear, press brake, drills, punches, band saws, etc.
) for the manufacture of metal parts; reading assembly and detail drawings; and barcode scanning of material and labor to job travelers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Set up and operate drill machines, punch press, band saws, and press brake.
Determine sequence of operations by studying blueprints, specifications, and work orders.
Prepare machines for production by positioning and securing fixtures, stops, and guides.
Produce parts by locating and marking reference points on work piece with rule, compass, template, etc.
Position or align work piece against stops and guides or with die.
Regulate machines by setting and adjusting controls.
Operate equipment, including drilling, reaming, tapping, grinding, and sawing.
Maintain specifications by observing operations, detecting malfunctions, inspecting parts, and adjusting controls.
Operate miscellaneous hand tools, calipers, gauges, rules, templates, dies, and any other tools required to perform the job.
Other duties as assigned, including special projects.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Use manufacturing equipment controls and instruments to monitor progress and determine actions.
Extensive knowledge of manufacturing methods, processes, and procedures.
Strong working knowledge of quality and inspection requirements, manufacturing processes, and measurement techniques.
Demonstrated competency with tools required for mechanical inspection (calipers, gauges, etc.
).
Read blueprints and/or drawings.
Follow directions and cooperate, work, and communicate with coworkers, supervisors, subordinates, and/or outside contacts.
Read, write, understand, and speak English.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required:
High School Diploma or GED
Minimum 2 years comparable work experience
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED WORK HOURS
This is a full-time, hourly position.
Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.
m.
to 2:30 p.
m.
Occasional overtime may be required as job duties demand.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position operates in a manufacturing environment and is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND REQUIREMENTS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:
Lifting, carrying, and/or moving up to 40 lbs.
Frequent standing (up to 100%)
Ability to use hands and fingers for grasping, pinching, pulling, pushing; rotating fingers, wrists, and hands; manipulation of machine controls, tools, and parts.
Ability to identify parts and tools, observe operations of machine, and visually inspect completed parts.
TRAVEL
No out-of-area or overnight travel is expected.
