Summary: The Business Development Manager for Alternative Raw Materials and SCM (Supplemental Cementitious Materials) is responsible for supporting Americas Cement plants in executing on strategy and roadmap to maximize usage of waste materials in cement manufacturing, creating valuable zero landfill offering to the industrial waste generators.
He/she will develop relationships with key industrial waste producers with specific focus on power generation companies and coal combustion residual waste streams.
This position will support the entire Americas Cement network.
Under direction from the President of Sapphire Americas, reporting to the Director of ARM Business Development, and in close collaboration with VPs of East and West Regions of Sapphire, MTS group and various Americas Cement internal stakeholders, this individual will focus on the identification and development of new sources of new Alternative Raw Materials (ARM) and SCMs, develop working relationships with Coal Combustion Product (CCP) generators and Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR) pond owners and execute on specific opportunities through feasibility and conceptual design stages of the projects.
What you’ll be contributing: Develop and execute on key projects related to ARMs and SCMs with focus on increasing usage of industrial and municipal waste by-products as alternative raw materials to drive optimization of cash costs at AGC cement plants and corporate contribution to landfill diversion.
Promote and support Sapphire mission, vision, and strategy with key AGC and CRH stakeholders.
Build strategic relationship with key industrial waste generators, especially coal burning power plants.
Execute on specific local market to identify and build relationships with new waste generators and waste processors.
Conduct ongoing reviews of local markets, cement competitors’ ARM use, and other competing industries in North America.
Closely work with plant operations team to understand and remove roadblocks related to use of alternative raw materials in the plant and help to coordinate industrial trials with generators.
Drive continuous increase in $ GAV metric (Gross Added Value $) from usage of ARM at the plants.
Develop Capital Expansion (CX) projects and assisting with building of financial models to support project development and validation.
To succeed in this position, you will need: Bachelor’s in marketing, engineering, finance, of other science field MBA is preferred 5+ years of experience in the material recycling operations, waste-to-energy or CleanTech industry, with strong emphasis on business development, strategic planning, and business management 5+ years of experience in industrial manufacturing operation 3+ years of progressive experience in project development and management Demonstrated track record in successful people management.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (Spanish or/and French is an asset) Proficient in use of computer, Excel, SAP, PowerPoint, Word Available for travelling (up to 50-70% of the time) High resistance to stress Demonstrated problem solving skills.

Experience in a regulated environment.
Ability to transmit expertise and influence internal / external constituents.

This position may require some lifting of objects no heavier than twenty pounds (30lbs.
) This is sedentary in nature but may require occasional periods of standing and walking Work Environment This position is based in an indoor, climate-controlled office space, but requires travel to the AGC plants and generator sites.
Company H&S policies must be strictly followed.
Wearing site-specific PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) may be required.
