Position Purpose: The Wellness Projects Manager will provide oversight for the health and wellness projects for the Tribe’s Health and Human Services Department.
The Wellness Projects Manager will create and implement health and wellness projects based on the needs of the Native American Community.
This position will promote wellness initiatives to Native Americans to enhance their healthcare status and to promote the prevention of disease, maintenance of health and overall health and well-being of the community in a strength-based, culturally appropriate manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Serves as a Project Manager for Wellness related grants and projects.
May serve as a Project Manager for Nutrition related grants and projects.
May supervise wellness staff.
Implement new health initiatives and projects as needed.
Implement EMR and Billing System Maintain good working relationships with all Tribal and Community social and health service agencies.
Organize work in a timely manner to meet all deadlines and schedules.
Act as a liaison/advocate for patients with local, state and federal agencies to meet the health care needs of patients.
Provide health and nutrition education.
Participates as needed in nutrition and food security projects.
Assess an individual’s unmet health and social needs to connect with community and organizational resources, including clear guidance about why and how to access these resources.
Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience: Must possess a bachelor’s degree in community health or a health-related field, or 10 years’ experience in a leadership role, in the health or behavioral health field.
Minimal of five years’ experience of grant management preferred.
Must have a minimum of five years’ experience using and implementing EMR software.
Candidate is familiar with local community resources and health systems.
Must have a minimum of five years’ experience in project development and strategic planning.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must strictly adhere to the confidentiality and HIPAA policies.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Organizational and record-keeping skills are necessary for accurate maintenance of files, correspondence and follow-up.
Proficiency with computers and programs like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, EMR and the Internet.
Knowledge of community resources available for providing assistance to Tribal populations including state and federal agencies providing housing, employment, health services, protection of Native American rights, and other types of public assistance preferred.
