Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team.
As a Special Education Teacher, you will be responsible for providing specialized instruction to students with diverse learning needs and behaviors.
Your role will involve creating and implementing individualized education plans, collaborating with other educators and professionals, and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the unique learning styles and abilities of each student
- Provide direct instruction in various subjects, including math, literacy, science, and behavior management
- Utilize learning technology and assistive devices to enhance student engagement and achievement
- Collaborate with speech therapists, physical education instructors, and other specialists to address students' specific needs
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as necessary
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes social-emotional development
- Implement behavior management techniques to support students' behavioral goals
- Collaborate with parents/guardians to ensure open communication and involvement in their child's education
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
- Valid Missouri teaching certification in Special Education
- Experience working with students with diverse learning needs, including those with autism, intellectual disabilities, or emotional/behavioral disorders
- Knowledge of evidence-based instructional strategies for students with special needs
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents/guardians, and other professionals
- Proficiency in curriculum development and lesson planning for diverse learners
