The secondary diesel instructor provides instruction to secondary students in all areas of diesel technology by NATEF/ASE guidelines and accepted industry standards.
This position will coordinate efforts to obtain and maintain NATEF/ASE certification for the secondary diesel program.
This person will collaborate with current staff, faculty, and diesel industry representatives and develop curriculum and deliver instruction in both laboratory and classroom environments, using effective delivery methods to enhance student understanding.
Essential Job Duties • Provide instruction in all areas of diesel technology.
• Identify and develop a curriculum supporting current and emerging program needs.
• Assist with student recruitment and job placement.
• Coordinate and track student work-based learning opportunities.
• Coordinate efforts to obtain/maintain NATEF/ASE certification of the diesel program.
• Establish and maintain program-specific Business and Industry Leadership Teams.
• Assist with repair and maintenance of the college's diesel equipment.
• Visit student job sites • Develop and distribute course syllabi based on the institutional syllabi.
• Return evaluated student exams and papers in a timely fashion.
• Maintain grades and class status information.
• Submit required reports by deadlines.
• Meet classes at the listed times.
• Serve on institutional committees as needed.
• Support college activities.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities • Must have or be able to obtain ASE Master Diesel Technician certification and ASE certification in Steering and Suspension, Electricity and Electronics, Engine Performance, Preventive Maintenance, Brakes, Power Trains, Air Conditioning, etc.
Hydraulics.
• Ability to work well under pressure • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills o Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, other professionals, staff, and the public Education and Experience • Must have a Missouri Teacher Certification, Missouri Career Education Teaching Certification, or a minimum of two years of closely related experience which would qualify you for certification.
• Bachelor's Degree in Diesel Technology, Diesel Technology Education, or closely related field preferred.
• Experience teaching diesel technology preferred.
• Knowledge of the Canvas LMS preferred.
• Five years of experience working in the diesel industry preferred.
• Valid driver’s license is required.
