This is a Part Time Position.
Maximum of 30 hours per week.
Schedule: Mon-Thu 11am-7pm, Fridays TBA, occasional weekends.
Role: The Academic Coordinator provides support to low-income,
first-generation, veteran, and disabled students.
This includes mentoring, life
skills coaching, college admissions and financial aid guidance, financial
management coaching, and assistance with basic needs like food, transportation,
and health concerns.
Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate is strong-minded, academically adept, and has experience tutoring or mentoring
students from low-income urban and rural areas.
A background in psychology is
beneficial, as is an interest in college football and basketball.
The candidate
should be flexible, able to work with all ages, and respectful of the program's
federally funded nature.
High social intelligence is a plus, as the role
involves serving as a point of contact in the Academic Center Tutoring Center
and conducting 1-1 meetings with students.
Benefits: This part-time position currently does not offer standard
benefits.
However, it provides professional development opportunities, flexible
scheduling, and potential for progression within the TRIO organization.
Other
benefits include assistance with Public Student Loan Forgiveness and SAVE
programs, sponsorship of Practicum hours for master's degree work or
certification, and paid TRIO-specific training.
Requirements:
BA or BS from an accredited institution, experience working respectfully with diverse
student populations, and experience in high school or college football,
coaching, and sports psychology/PE.
Proficiency in using PC computers and
databases is a must.
TRIO alumni and those familiar with life in
Kansas/Oklahoma and the rural west are preferred.
