We are currently seeking a Base Level Collections Agent to join our dedicated team and help our members navigate their financial challenges while maintaining our strong commitment to ethical collections practices.
Job Summary:
As a Base Level Collections Agent at KTCCU, you will play a crucial role in assisting our members in managing their financial obligations while upholding our credit union's values and standards.
You will work closely with our members to find mutually beneficial solutions to resolve delinquent accounts while maintaining a high level of empathy and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contact members with delinquent accounts through various communication channels (phone, email, mail) in a respectful and compassionate manner.
- Identify and analyze the root causes of delinquency and work with members to develop customized repayment plans and solutions.
- Educate members on their rights and responsibilities while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, including Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).
- Document all member interactions, payment arrangements, and follow-up actions accurately in the collections software system.
- Negotiate settlements or repayment agreements within established guidelines.
- Monitor payment plans and follow up on missed payments, providing support and assistance as needed.
- Assist in the skip-tracing process to locate members with outdated contact information.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as loan servicing and member services, to gather information and provide a seamless member experience.
- Provide feedback and recommendations to improve collections processes and strategies.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in finance or related field is a plus.
- Prior experience in collections or customer service is preferred but not required.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a customer-centric approach.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in difficult situations.
- Familiarity with financial software and collections tools is a plus.
- Basic understanding of financial regulations and compliance, including FDCPA, is advantageous.
- Detail-oriented with good organizational skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically.
