Position Summary: The Drafting Intern is an entry level position.
The Drafting Intern will be responsible for following current company procedures and standards to ensure drawings are completed with quality and consistency.
Drafting Intern Duties and Responsibilities:
Develops drawings using engineering principles, established company standards, procedures, and instructions.
Follows best practices, policies and procedures in the design, layout, and documentation.
Specific tasks may include making models, drawings and assemblies and Bill of Materials using the CAD system and other computer tools.
Follows all company CAD best practices for model creation, drawing creation, file management and revision control to complete projects with minimal errors.
Provides regular feedback and updates to project team members and immediate supervisor about the status of drafting tasks.
Generates approval prints for customer review.
May perform other duties as assigned.
Drafting Intern Skills and Specifications:
Strong verbal and written communication skills; with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical information.
Demonstrated proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and G Suite.
Proficient in AutoCAD 2018 and/or Autodesk Inventor 2018 or later.
Solid problem-solving skills.
Able to manage multi-task work in a fast-paced environment.
Able to work proactively and independently on a broad variety of projects.
Able to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with people in the course of work.
Able to achieve Drafter I status within 6 months
Drafting Intern Education and Qualifications:
High school/college entry level.
Drafting Intern Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of Drafting Intern, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Drafting Intern Work Environment:
While performing the duties of Drafting Intern, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
