Greenbush - The Education Service Center is seeking applications for Summer Camp Counselors in Girard at our Main Campus.
Anticipated start date: April 1, 2024.
Position will remain open until filled.

Job Summary: Summer Camp Counselors are the primary caregivers for campers during our Day and Overnight Camps.
The Summer Camp Counselor is responsible for guiding campers throughout their camp experience.
Qualifications: Required: 1.
Minimum of 18 years of age 2.
High school diploma or certificate of equivalency 3.
Experience working with kids 4.
Valid Kansas driver’s license Preferred: 1.
Those that have or are currently seeking a degree in Education, Nursing, Recreation, or a related field 2.
Individual seeking a career involving working with kids 3.
Lifeguard or CPR/First aid certification Responsibilities: Essential Functions: 1.
Assist in the direction, supervision, and organization of campers in and out of classroom settings, within activities and throughout the camp in order to meet the intended camper outcomes.
2.
Apply basic youth development principles in working with campers through communication, relationship development, respect for diversity, involvement and empowerment of youth.
3.
Assure campers are properly supervised at all times.
4.
Responsible for leading and assisting with the teaching of activities.
5.
Provide for the progression of activities within the framework of individual and group interests and abilities.
6.
Insure that campers receive their medications as directed by camp coordinators.
7.
Be alert to campers and staff needs and assist them with personal and/or health problems, and discuss with camp health manager and/or resident camp coordinator when appropriate.
8.
Be alert to equipment and facilities to insure utilization, proper care, and maintenance is adhered to; report repairs needed promptly to camp coordinators.
9.
Be a role model to campers and staff in your attitude and behavior.
10.
Follow and uphold all safety and security rules and procedures.
11.
Set a good example to campers and others in regard to general camp procedures and practices including sanitation, schedule, and sportsmanship.
General Responsibilities: 1.
Assist with various duties necessary for successful camp operations, meal preparation, serving, and clean-up, housekeeping, some jobs will rotate, others will be assigned.
2.
Participate enthusiastically in all camp activities, and leading those as assigned.
3.
Participate as a member of the Student Enrichment Team to deliver quality day programs.
4.
Must support the Service Center mission, goals, and objectives.
5.
Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
6.
Must maintain strict confidentiality.
7.
Must demonstrate proficiency in ability to produce excellent work as requested by the Director of Student Enrichment and Camp Coordinators.
8.
Must demonstrate proficiency in ability to effectively and regularly communicate with Service Center employees and constituents.
9.
Must complete all assignments in a time-sensitive manner as determined by Camp Coordinators.
10.
Must meet all safety requirements as directed by the Service Center.
11.
Must perform other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director or Director of Student Enrichment or Camp Coordinators.
Physical Requirements: 1.
Manages all job duties with mobility, agility, and dexterity.
2.
Requires long periods of sitting or standing.
3.
Ability to lift a maximum of 50 pounds.
4.
Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid.
5.
Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers.
6.
Endurance including prolonged standing, some bending, stooping, walking distances, hiking, climbing, and stretching; requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate outdoor equipment and camp activities; requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs; and with daily exposure to the sun and heat.
