*Job Title: *Child Care Center Master Teacher *Wage/Hour Status: *Hourly
*Reports To: *Director, Pastor, and Church Board *Pay Rate: $10-$14*

*Primary Purpose:*
The Child Care Center Master teacher is responsible for maintaining active supervision of children during daily activities, encouraging participation while ensuring the safety of the child.
Coordinates daily activities and creates lesson plans based on the director’s curriculum.
Responsible for following all KDHE regulations, Sonshine Child Care Center policies and procedures.
*Summary of Duties:* Maintains a safe environment for children and staff.
Communicates respectfully and appropriately with children based on age and development stage.
Communicates effectively with parent/legal guardian about his/her child.
Attends and obtains required training and certifications appropriate for position *Qualifications:* *Education/Experience: *(Must Have one of the Following) * 12 semester hours of college credits in early childhood and 6months teaching experience in licensed center or preschool * Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) and 1-year teaching experience in licensed center or preschool or supervised practicum * AA or 2-year certificate in child development and 1-year teaching experience in licensed center or preschool or supervised practicum.
* BA or BS in child development or early childhood education including a practicum and 3 months teaching experience in licensed center or preschool * Ba or BS in related field plus 12 hours of college credits in early childhood and 6 months teaching experience in licensed center or preschool *Essential Functions:* * Provide supervision of children during daily activities, encouraging participation, ensuring safety, and providing counseling as needed.
* Uses appropriate, positive interaction when disciplinary issues arise.
Encourages problem solving, self-control, and the use of consequences.
* Researches, writes, and implements lesson plans based on the director’s curriculum.
Turns lessons plans into director for review.
* Maintains a professional relationship with co-workers, parents and children through communication.
* Provides each child’s parent/legal guardian with daily, written communication using Daily Observation Forms Coordinate parent/teacher conferences for each child annually.
* Maintains a classroom environment that is age and developmentally appropriate, including well-defined interest centers and a current bulletin board, while taking consideration for children with special needs.
* Provides a well-balanced schedule, alternating active and quiet, small, large, and individualized activities.
* Interacts with children in a nurturing and friendly manner-including respect, controlling tone, making eye contact, and appropriate touch.
* Performs daily housekeeping duties.
(Such as sweeping, vacuuming, sanitizing toys, etc.
) *Special Knowledge/Skills:* * Effective ethical judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
* Professional demeanor and positive attitude and customer focus; dedicated to providing service and support to a diverse and wide range of personalities.
* Ability to communicate with children of all ages and abilities.
* Excellent customer service skills *Professional Growth and Development:* * Each staff member shall complete orientation within seven calendar days after the date of employment * Each staff member shall complete health and safety training no later than 30 calendar days after the date of employment.
* Each staff member shall obtain certification in pediatric first aid and in pediatric CPR no later than 30 calendar days after the date of employment or volunteering.
* Obtain 16 clock hours of child-care related training during each calendar year.
*Other Requirements:* * Must be able to successfully pass child protective services and criminal background check upon hire and every 5 years.
* Must register with the Family Care Safety Registry upon hire.
* Must be 18 years of age *Working conditions:* * This job operates in a childcare environment.
This position will interact with children in early learning classrooms on a daily basis.
*Physical demands:* * Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vison, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
* The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
* The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Job Type: Full-time Pay: $10.
