Job Summary:
Serves as a staff Dentist for the dental unit with responsibilities for performing a variety of professional tasks of average technical and administrative difficulty in conformance with established criteria and guidelines.
Job Duties:
Routine duties shall include providing health care services to individuals eligible for services in accordance with the self-governance compact and funding agreement between the Cherokee Nation and the United States executed under the authority of the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act.
Employee(s) will have contact with the general public, patients and patient's families, and in a clinical situation in order to provide reputable dental care and further the goals and objectives of the dental program.
Performs all phases of General Dentistry and provides dental services of a scope, quality, and quantity consistent with Cherokee Nation policies.
Volunteers to provide supportive services to the Dental Clinic Supervisor to attain clinic goals and objectives.
Keeps accurate records of treatment and treatment planning.
Performs routine examinations to determine needed treatments.
Prescribes medication when needed.
Maintains educational requirements.
Assures Cherokee Nation Health Services objectives are met.
Adheres to professional ethical standards.
Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications:
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT
Doctoral degree; no substitutions.
Graduate of a dental school accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation with either a D.
D.
S.
or D.
M.
D.
degree.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
No additional experience required.
COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Contact Management systems; Database software and Spreadsheet software.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess an Oklahoma State Dental license and maintain CPR certification.
Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care.
