Greenbush - The Southeast Kansas Education Service Center is seeking applications for an Payroll Assistant at Greenbush Main Campus - Girard.
Anticipated Start Date: 5/24/2024.

Job Summary: The Payroll Assistant's primary responsibility is to provide support in processing payrolls for school districts and other like agencies.
In addition to providing payroll support the Payroll Assistant will support other accounting functions to support school and other like agencies business operations.
QUALIFICATIONS Required: Valid driver’s license required for employment.
REAL ID is required if air travel is necessary to complete job duties.
Excellent communication skills promoting positive client experiences and workspace environment Observation of strict confidentiality of records Accurate data entry skills Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to work independently in a time sensitive environment Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll softwares and applications Ability to take direction from team members Ability to become "bondable" Preferred: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Two years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping with at least six months of experience in payroll preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES Essential Functions: Enters, maintains, and/or processes information in the payroll system; information may include employees hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, and other information.
Ensures proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, charitable contributions, and other deductions.
Reconciles payroll to the general ledger and monthly bank statements.
Issues, or reissues, physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge.
Records and processes federal and state payroll tax deposits.
Communicates technical information to non-technical personnel General Responsibilities: Maintain timely documentation.
Support the mission, goals, and objectives of the SEKESC.
Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
Maintain strict confidentiality as outlined by FERPA and HIPAA.
Ability to work alone and in groups to provide services.
Maintain professional relationships with families.
Assume responsibility for individual professional growth by staying current with literature, research, and/or practices.
Demonstrate proficiency in ability to effectively and regularly communicate with other employees of the SEKESC and constituents.
Complete all assignments in a timely manner including communication with other staff and families.

Follow all safety requirements as directed by the SEKESC.
Regular and predictive attendance in designated work location as determined by the Executive Director or designee.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or designee.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Lifting up to 30 pounds.
Manage all job duties with mobility, agility, and dexterity.
Sit/stand for long periods of time.
Work in loud/stressful environments.
Ability to drive in varying weather and geographical conditions.
Being exposed to infectious and contagious diseases.
Being exposed to hazardous materials.
Being exposed to work settings that offer a risk to personal security and that are not ADA compliant.
