*SUMMARY:*
The Billing Specialist is responsible for data entry, preparation of monthly invoices, maintaining billing reports and records, and accounts payable.
This is an hourly position with hours and schedule established to complete required duties.
This position is “non-exempt” from wage and hour regulations, as defined by the U.
S.
Department of Labor.
*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:*
1.
Prepares monthly contract invoices and ensures they are in compliance with Lafayette House’s policies and procedures and contract requirements as well as ensuring they are accurate and submitted timely.
2.
Prepares contract utilization reports.
3.
Assists in contract monitoring visits.
4.
Maintains contract receivables and follow up on delinquent invoices.
5.
Process insurance claims for private insurance reimbursement as well as follow up on payer denials.
6.
Processes payment of Accounts Payable.
7.
Prepares monthly reports pertaining to demographics.
8.
Ensures that all billing issues are effectively addressed and completed by the end of the fiscal year.
9.
Maintains client records in accordance with agency policy and contractual requirements.
10.
Makes copies of client records.
11.
Provides reception coverage as needed.
12.
Performs other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate by supervisor.
*REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:*
1.
High school diploma, GED Certificate or equivalent.
2.
Three (3) years’ experience in accounts receivable, billing or closely related accounting field preferred.
*ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:*

Must possess excellent organizational, communication, problem solving and have knowledge of accounting procedures.
2.
Must possess a high level of computer skills and knowledge in MS Office software applications including Word and Excel.
3.
Must demonstrate the ability to effectively function as a Lafayette House team member.
4.
Must demonstrate the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks concurrently.
5.
Must be able to effectively work in a fast-paced business environment.
6.
Must demonstrate the ability to customarily and regularly exercise discretion.
7.
Must demonstrate the ability to relate with empathy and sensitivity to staff, clients, and the community.

Completed Family Care and Safety Registry indicating employee is not a threat to the health, safety or welfare of clients and pass Department of Mental Health employment eligibility review.
